Medical Marijuana

Medical Cannabis has several potential beneficial effects. It helps with chronic pain and muscle spasms, reduces nausea, improves sleep and cuts down seizure episodes in people with epilepsy. When usual treatments are ineffective, marijuana has also been recommended for anorexia, arthritis, migraine and glaucoma.

It’s important to note that not all strains of medicinal marijuana do the same thing. Therefore, it’s important to consult your certified marijuana doctor or counselor in New Jersey (NJ) to find out the right strain for you.

NJ Medical Marijuana Program for Pain Management

Pain is the alarm of disease; it is the symptom that announces that something is not right with our bodies. Whether due to an accident or illness, it is the most common reason that people seek medical assistance. However, because pain has many causes, some of which are poorly understood, it is often a vexing problem to treat until the discovery of pain-relieving properties of marijuana (cannabis).

Medical marijuana is a natural and well established pain relieving compound and an increasingly popular alternative to traditional pain-relieving medications, including opioids. Marijuana may ease certain types of chronic pain, including pain resulting from nerve damage and inflammation. The side effects of marijuana use are usually minimal, especially in comparison with opioid side effects. Also, it takes less of a toll on the liver, kidneys and possibly other organs. Cannabis appears to be far less addictive compared to opioids for long-term management. When it comes to effective management that will allow patients to live their lives with minimal pain and still participate in the activities of day-to-day living, medical marijuana is the clear choice here. Opioids tend to cause drowsiness, lethargy, and other symptoms that can interfere with a patient’s day-to-day functioning. Some studies suggest most patients rate their quality of life higher when they use medical cannabis to manage their symptoms.
