Chronic Headaches

A chronic headache is when you have a headache for more than four hours on more than 15 days per month. Some people experience these headaches for a period of six months or longer.

The constant nature of chronic daily headaches makes them one of the most disabling headache conditions. Aggressive initial chronic headache treatment and steady, long-term pain management might reduce pain and lead to fewer headaches. There are short-lasting and long-lasting chronic daily headaches. Long-lasting headaches last more than four hours and include:

  • Chronic migraine
  • Chronic tension-type headache
  • New daily persistent headache
  • Hemicrania continua
